Abstract

Unable to add more journal subscriptions, the University of New Hampshire's library decided to buy content by the article in order to meet the requests from faculty and students. In 2006, this service provided a more timely turnaround time than did interlibrary loan, and users received the information as a pdf. This research shows that it was more cost effective to buy information at the article level rather than subscribing to journals.
