Abstract

Hypertext systems are dependent upon a formalized system of linked nodes. In practice, these links have been made explicit at the time of document creation. Research has been conducted on the automation of the linking process based on lexical and other low level analysis of node similarities. This paper suggest an alternative approach to document linking based upon visualization. The technique presented shows promise in providing a tool for identifying implicit associations among documents. The system has the capability of displaying the explicit document structure in addition to the implicit structure. Both hypertext and non hypertext document collection may be visualized.
