Abstract
Existing research and systems that automate the presentation of graphical interfaces are examined. The issues involved in the generation of analogies for the presentation and interaction features are presented. In particular, the paper examines how the selection of the representation and the design of the presentation features are determined by the underlying system, the user's goals and human perceptual capabilities. The paper concludes with a proposal for a system that extends the capabilities of existing interface generation applications by addressing and automating the selection of the analogs as well as graphical features is presented.
