Abstract

This article is an analysis of an early manuscript of Juan Carlos Onetti's novel Juntacadáveres (1964). The manuscript turns out to be earlier than the publication of Para una tumba sin nombre (1959), making it an important stage in the development of the saga of Santa María, Onetti's imaginary city. It is followed by a transcription of part of the manuscript, equivalent to the first three chapters of the published novel.
