Abstract

Presents a case study of the convergence of library, computing, and teaching media services at the University of Southampton, UK, describing their evolution from a peer-coordinator arrangement to management by a strategic director of an expanded portfolio of academic services, which included the careers advisory service and quality assurance unit, repositioned as an educational development service. Discusses the circumstances leading to convergence, the significance of information strategy planning, services included in the converged organization, the model adopted, the change management process, the success and influence of the converged services, and their subsequent dissolution and regrouping in the context of institutional restructuring.
