Abstract

This essay examines the mutual influences between the Paraguayan writer Augusto Roa Bastos and the Argentine writer Ricardo Piglia, looking particularly at the relations between Roa's 1974 novel Yo el Supremo (I the Supreme) and Piglia's 1980 novel Respiración artificial (Artificial Respiration).
