Abstract

While most MLIS students get to experience the inner workings of a large university library during their studies, many are never exposed to the smaller regional library environment. This presentation will give MLIS students a glimpse into the benefits and challenges of working at a smaller regional library, especially under the supervision of a larger university library. Four University of Pittsburgh librarians, from each of the regional libraries, will discuss their experiences at the regional library level. Topics will include the day-to-day experiences of everything from the job description to working with students and faculty. Don’t miss out on this very important panel session to learn about smaller regional libraries.
