Abstract

This literature review serves to highlight the experiences of transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive (TGE) individuals seeking family planning services. Twelve articles that focus on the experiences of TGE individuals utilizing family planning services were selected for review from PubMed, Ovid, and GoogleScholar. I categorize the experiences reported into four themes: contraceptive use (including using testosterone as a contraceptive) and fertility desire; pregnancy intentions and outcomes; chestfeeding/breastfeeding; and gender-affirming care. I suggest the creation of a set of guidelines for the care of TGE patients seeking family planning services by TGE individuals.
