Abstract

Disordered body image and eating disorders (EDs) increase in adolescents during puberty, though exact prevalence is unknown. The Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) assesses ED risk. Intuitive eating (IE) is making peace with food by trusting one’s physiological and psychological cues. Providing IE nutrition education through Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program nutrition education may alter the individual results of EAT-26 and reduce incidence of disordered eating and EDs in children.
