Creating a Positive Patient and Experience Amid Staffing Crisis.
Master Essay, University of Pittsburgh.
Abstract
Staffing issues resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic have created ample problems in hospitals and health systems across the world. The disruption of day-to-day operations negatively impacted quality of patient care, patient satisfaction, and the employee experience. As healthcare organizations attempt to emerge from the pandemic and strengthen their operations, they must implement creative solutions to care for both their patients and their staff.
This paper describes three strategic projects with the goal of overcoming these public health issues that were initiated by an academic medical center in Pennsylvania. The three projects with a wide range of focus areas attempt to improve the experience of the patients and staff in a variety of areas.
