Abstract
Mentoring opportunities arise for librarians on campus and within the greater community. Often unexpected, these relationships hold potential to positively impact many people in meaningful ways. As academic librarians, we may share information about our profession and respond supportively when students express interest in exploring librarianship through an internship. We may also share expertise with groups extraneous to campus, especially populations who are overlooked and marginalized. Despite such efforts falling outside of normal job duties, such professional flexibility enables librarians to expand their impact to known and unknown recipients for the greater civic good.
