Decreasing Lost Revenue in a Hospital Based Clinic.
Master Essay, University of Pittsburgh.
Abstract
Patient access and quality of care have remained at the forefront of the healthcare industry for many years. In the background, financial statements and balance sheets also have a large impact on organizational sustainability. If revenue is not being collected for various procedures or retail charges, this is a loss of possible revenue for the organization. Similarly, if patients are not being scheduled for annual and follow up appointments, this is a lost opportunity for reimbursement. Lastly, if operating room blocks are not utilized fully, this is another opportunity for patients to have been seen. This paper will further explain the goals of these initiatives while looking at implementation of new processes to decrease chance of lost revenue from both an administrative and clinical provider perspective.
