Abstract

During the 1980s the archival profession in the United States engaged in a period of intense self-analysis and planning for the future. This collection of essays, some themselves documents in the debates and discussions that characterized these years, reflects on the wide range of issues and concerns that archivists addressed in the 1980s and suggests some future directions for the archival profession as it nears the end of this century.
