Abstract

African Americans account for only 7% of the estimated 190,000 librarians in the US, and only 5.4% of academic librarians. This poster will articulate issues in and strategies for addressing common challenges in recruiting, supporting, and retaining new Black librarians and the valuable perspectives and skills they bring to librarianship.
