Abstract

The lean production principle has guided organizations in the manufacturing sector for decades. Toyota Production System (TPS) is the successful model everyone strives to replicate. Although universities and libraries are not manufacturers, they do face economic challenges. Teams are expected to accomplish more with fewer people. TPS provides a different perspective. Achievement stems from two pillars of success: continuous improvement and respect for people.
