Abstract
Esta presentación fue realizada por la Universidad de Pittsburgh por Webcast en conjunto con Acceso Abierto Perú: Semana Mundial del Acceso Abierto 2011, los días 21 y 26 de octubre, 2011. El Sistema Bibliotecario de la Universidad de Pittsburgh ha desarrollado un innovador programa para apoyar los servicios de publicación de revistas de forma gratuita para los afiliados de todo el mundo. Más allá de apoyar a su propia institución, el Sistema Bibliotecario de la Universidad de Pittsburgh ofrece ahora sus servicios a todas aquellos que comparten el compromiso de publicar contenidos arbitrados de alta calidad con el sistema de Acceso Abierto. Al ofrecer nuestra experiencia y nuestros servicios de hosting estamos apoyando en forma material, real y concreta, el principio de Acceso Abierto para la investigación académica. Igualmente, estamos incentivando a los investigadores de todo el mundo para que se unan a esta iniciativa y formen parte de este compromiso. El Sistema Bibliotecario de la Universidad de Pittsburgh ha desarrollado un eficiente proceso que incluye un paquete de herramientas para la publicación de Revistas de Acceso Abierto como base para trabajar con nuevos socios publicadores y los motiva para convertirse casi en auto-suficientes en la publicación de nuevos contenidos arbitrados. Por lo tanto, hemos podido añadir cada nueva revista a nuestro portafolio con un bajo incremento de costo. Nos concentramos en asegurar la sostenibilidad del nuevo papel del Sistema Bibliotecario de la Universidad de Pittsburgh como publicador. _________________________________________________________________________________________ [This presentation was delivered as a Webcast from the University of Pittsburgh in conjunction with Open Access Perú: Semana Mundial del Acceso Abierto 2011, on both October 21, and October 26, 2011. The University Library System (ULS), University of Pittsburgh has evolved an innovative program to support journal publishing services free of charge for partners worldwide. Moving beyond support for the home institution, the ULS now offers its services to partners worldwide who share a commitment to Open Access for high-quality peer-reviewed scholarly content. By offering our hosting services and expertise, we provide real material support to the principle of Open Access to scholarly research, and we incentivize scholars worldwide to join in this commitment. The ULS has developed an efficient process and suite of tools with OJS as a foundation to work with new publishing partners and encourage them to become nearly self-sufficient in publishing new peer-reviewed content. Thus, we have been able to add each new journal to our portfolio with only small incremental costs. Future directions focus on ensuring the sustainability of the library’s new role as publisher.]
