Abstract
Over 25 summers, BTG-Pittsburgh placed more than 400 graduate-level students from the health sciences and social work in more than 60 community-based organizations serving marginalized communities across Allegheny County. Interdisciplinary pairs of interns from five Pitt schools (public health, social work, medicine, nursing, and pharmacy) worked to meet organizational and community needs, build skills, and learn about determinants of health equity. Intern projects are community responsive and result in tangible products belonging to host organizations. We share qualitative and quantitative evidence of impact, including evaluation results and student and community partner testimonials. The importance of partner capacity building and reciprocal benefits will be discussed.
