Abstract
Pitt Department of Physical Therapy students participate in unique community-engaged experiences as part of the curriculum. Students work closely with local communities, fostering commitment to lifelong community engagement and social responsibility. We reviewed 228 post-experience reflections from 102 physical therapy students who engaged with 26 community partners. Ninety-three percent of students reported they are likely to continue community engagement postgraduation. Students met identified community needs by providing health and youth career education, access to recreational physical activities, and pro bono physical therapy services. Students reported personal and professional growth through interactions with diverse and underserved communities, cultivating skills that support person-centered, holistic, and equitable health care.
