Abstract

The Penning Ion Angle Energy Distribution (PIAED) technique was used to study reactivescattering involving a molecular target (H2) and an electronically excited noble gas (He). Crossedmolecular beam setup was used to ensure single collision events, so that information on thenewly formed products could be obtained without the averaging effects of secondary collisions.Optical quenching of one of the two metastable states was employed to perform state selectedmeasurements.
