  • In 2019, with support from the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM), the project team from SciStarter led efforts to organize and support Citizen Science Day events and programs in libraries. The intended impact of Citizen Science Day was to coalesce libraries in one day of celebrating and participating in citizen science research, which was an area of focus for engagement and retention activities and aligns with NNLM priority health topics. Feedback from Citizen Science Day included the need to expand the celebration, as one day was challenging to plan and organize, whereas expanding the celebration would allow libraries more flexibility to work with their communities to put together a host of programs. The NNLM All of Us Program Center (NAPC) worked with SciStarter and Arizona State University (ASU) to expand Citizen Science Day to Citizen Science Month (CSM) in 2020 and continued to iterate on CSM through 2024, to align with the goals of the All of Us Research Program (All of Us) and encourage program participants and the public to stay engaged in research.
